Mavericks Fall to Thunder in Preseason Opener
The Dallas Mavericks opened their preseason schedule with a 112-101 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night. Luka Doncic led the way for the Mavericks with 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists, but it wasn't enough to overcome a strong performance from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who finished with 29 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
The Mavericks struggled from three-point range, shooting just 25% from beyond the arc. They also turned the ball over 15 times, which led to 18 points for the Thunder.
Despite the loss, there were some positives for the Mavericks. Josh Green had a solid game, finishing with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Maxi Kleber also played well, scoring 12 points and grabbing 8 rebounds.
The Mavericks will be back in action on Wednesday night when they host the Utah Jazz.
Conclusion
The Mavericks have a lot of work to do before the regular season begins. They need to improve their three-point shooting and take better care of the basketball. But they have a talented roster led by Luka Doncic, so they have the potential to be a contender in the Western Conference.
