Roberto De Zerbi Linked With Juventus
Italian Coach Impressing in England
Brighton Boss on Juve's Radar
Roberto De Zerbi, the Italian coach currently managing Brighton Hove Albion in the Premier League, has reportedly caught the attention of Serie A giants Juventus. The Bianconeri are said to be monitoring the 44-year-old's progress, as they consider the future of their current manager, Max Allegri.
De Zerbi, a former player for Brescia, Napoli, and AC Milan, has quickly established himself as one of the most promising young coaches in Europe. Since taking over at Brighton in September 2022, he has guided the Seagulls to some impressive results, including a 4-0 victory over Chelsea and a 3-1 win against Arsenal.
European football expert Gabriele Marcotti believes De Zerbi is a coach who is "trying to take football to the next level." He said: "He's a very attacking coach, he wants to play with a high tempo, he wants to press high, he wants to create chances. He's not afraid to play young players, and he's got a very clear idea of how he wants his teams to play."
If De Zerbi were to join Juventus, it would be a significant step up in his career. The Bianconeri are one of the most successful clubs in Italian history, with 36 Serie A titles to their name. They are also regulars in the Champions League, and have won the competition twice.
However, Juventus have struggled in recent seasons, and Allegri's future at the club is far from certain. The Bianconeri finished fourth in Serie A last season, and they were knocked out of the Champions League at the round of 16 by Villarreal.
If De Zerbi were to take over at Juventus, he would be expected to带领球队重返巅峰. The Bianconeri have not won the Serie A title since 2020, and they have not won the Champions League since 1996.
