Manchester City returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Brighton at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. Goals from Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland provided the difference for 10-men City, who moved to within one point of Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Alvarez opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a fine finish from inside the area. Haaland doubled City's lead in the 42nd minute with a powerful header. Brighton pulled a goal back in the second half through Leandro Trossard, but City restored their two-goal lead in the 75th minute through Haaland's second of the game.
The win was City's first in four games and moves them to within one point of Arsenal, who have a game in hand. Brighton remain in eighth place.
